Purpose of the TWI Leadership Training Camp is to bring TWI for the Children Camp to Kids  interpreter teams from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, and Croatia to join our American team for the TWI camp program at the orphanage in Bijela, Montenegro. Director Borislav Djukanovic has welcomed our TWI team members from around the Balkans to the Home, for the new Leadership Program and he has arranged for the team to stay together in the Villa located on the grounds of the orphanage.

Purpose: to discuss

1. The qualities or skills that help make us successful in our personal and

     business life;

2.  Personality traits that may hamper or help me in decision making and

     the ability to work well with others (family, people at work or play)

3.  How my background may influence the decisions I make;

4.  How my value system affects my actions and how my decisions are guided by

     my values;

5.  Did I study the right subjects to be prepared for the career I chose;

6.  How the degree of my success depends on my happiness in doing what I do

The Goal of the Leadership Training Camp is to:

(1) discuss career skills necessary for working in a multicultural workplace. The workshops will be informal and will be held in conjunction with the "TWI camp for the Children" at the Montenegro orphanage. Participants will  share in the discussions.

(2)  invite team members with successful careers to discuss their careers, how they selected this career, are they happy, are they successful.

(3)
discuss the careers open to young people today, what they are willing to do to be successful, steps to success, happiness and success and is it necessary to be happy in order to be successful. During the camp time with the children, we will be on the teams of our choice (games, musical activities, games, crafts).

"Welcome"  (BOBBY) – Introductions.

(1) Introduces Management Team and TWI Leadership Teams by countries

Bobby had the individuals stand up and introduce themselves.  It was really precious to hear everyone introduce themselves and find out more about their personality. I wish we had it taped since you learn a lot about the group by their intro of themselves. Bobby selected Pat Walton to go first to share her career success since she was the prime example of someone who selected a career and was happy with her choice after so many years!

(2) “TWI Team Kosovo’; “TWI Team Bosnia & Herzegovina ”; “TWI Team Serbia ”; “TWI Team Montenegro ”; “TWI Team USA

Beginning icebreaker: Introductions.  On the first evening - after settling the room assignments we held our first group dinner. The first dinner was arranged by groups. All groups sat together by country at separate tables by their choice.

5:30"Before Dinner" Activity - (LISBETH and DAVID)

Note: I “Animal Puzzles”  used for the “Before Dinner” Activity to set up the 1st Talking Point-their Personality Quiz Results. This is a quick “ice breaker” activity that can be done in the dining room area so we can move to our tables when dinner is served. (We have 24 team members so 4 groups of 6)

6:00 - 7:00 - Dinner in the dining room in the Villa

(1) (BOBBY) –Talking Point: "Advice for our future: Nobody remembers who came in second - You know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize. So run in such a way as to get the price".

 Bobby brought in the importance of toasting and Winning 101 story as the only part of the leadership training. Drew followed up with a toast before each meal as well.

(2) (DREW) - Toast (water glasses) - (DREW) - "to a successful Camp4Kids program with the children and to a successful, fun TWI Leadership Camp"

7:00 - 7:30 - Free time to freshen up after dinner and meet in the 2nd floor Conference Room for the 1st Leadership Session.

7:30 - 8:15 - Leadership Camp Discussion Group –

(1) (BOBBY and LISBETH)  -

Topic #1 ---  "Personality Quiz and Why you want to know who you are"

(1) Includes activity - "What is the meaning of time?" with team members divided into Animal Groups, using large paper squares and pencils for each person (Bobby will provide the paper and pencils). Discussion of how knowing what Animal you are makes you aware of the people around you, makes you more sensitive to their actions and the way they react to you and to situations, helps you to work or play with others in a better way.

8:15 - 8:45 - (DREW) - "Fish Bowl Questions---Is your Personality Type right for your career?" (5 team members each dinner meal-we have 17 people with full time jobs to call on – so we would add 2 at some time to get everyone- see the list below)

(1) Questions written on a 3x5 card and placed in  "Fish Bowl"

(2) Questions for team members with a full time job - there are 15 in all who have full time jobs

(3) Answer Time - 5 minutes (use the timer)

(4) People to ask at 1st Leadership Session- (1) Drew (2) Pat (3) Vanja (4) Vjeko (5) Emily

8:45 - (LISBETH) - Review the schedule for tomorrow's Program (1) Meeting time in the morning (2) Camp4Kids over in the orphanage area -- Handout the Schedules to the team members. AND remind them that schedules will be posted by the Registration Table and on each floor at the top of the stairs.

Everyone was given a TWI4kids team shirt to be worn constantly throughout the weekend.

The group walked down the street to the Villa Azzuro restaurant. TWI / Drew treated the first drink (not certain who did this actually but it was important to have us all together in a social setting and a nice icebreaker! Great start for the team bonding.)  The groups started mixing with each other and you could see relationships being formed.  It helped that Emily, Kristin, Dzenan also knew the Kosovo group and the Serbian group (David and the Bosnian team knew them as well).

The Villa Azzuro had live music and the older group stayed to listen as the younger group was led by Emily to her favorite bar St. Tropez….I believe the group had a great time there and the leadership team TWI4kids was formed!!

July 18 (Friday)-

Breakfast with the team in the Villa dining room. Camp program with the children - held at the orphanage, which is across the street from the Villa. Lunch at the Villa. Afternoon Camp program with the children. Dinner in the Villa with the team.  Evening drive into Herceg Novi, the old city located about 30 minutes from the orphanage. Overnight in the Villa.

Icebreaker - David Kozar did a great icebreaker involving each participant drawing his hand and writing briefly about what each finger meant to them. He did a great job explaining the process and used his hand to make it personal. Then he had each person at the table  talk about what each of their fingers represent. Then he had someone from each table tell the entire group about the process.

Pinky – your weakness

Ring finger – what are you committed to

Middle finger – what makes you mad

Pointer finger – point to something that is positive in your life or, that inspires you.

Thumb – what you are proud of (accomplishment) Thumbs up!

Gave an overview of the camps for kids before heading to the orphanage to prepare for the kids arrival at 9:30 a.m. The TWI4KIDS Camp brought the new TWI leadership team together to work as a group for the first time.

Camp activities.  Leadership teams participate with the TWI camp teams to work with the campers.

12:45 - 1:45 - LUNCH (followed by LEADERSHIP SESSION #2)

(1) TWI team returns to the Villa dining room for LUNCHsit at any table

(2) (BOBBY) – Talking Point: "Advice for our future: I can accept failure. Everyone fails at something, but I cannot accept not trying"

Bobby followed the icebreaker with the Personality test. Once understood, was well received and referenced the rest of the weekend. It was good that each team member completed the test before they arrived to the workshop. I then graphed the teams to show what personality types were in each group. Bobby first explained the meaning behind the L (lion), G (giraffe), O (owl) and B (bear). She gave each person back their test for them to review their personality which was very helpful. She then divided the group by personality and had them all describe time. Drew, Bobby and I stayed out of the groups and observed. It worked perfectly and was hysterical to see how the different personalities demonstrated the personality traits.  I gave out Lion, Owl, Bear and Giraffe (or giraffe like) beanies as the described their process. I then shared with the group the graphs of each team charting their personalities.

USA had mostly lions (3 each) One Owl , One Bear/Lion mix, One Giraffe .

Bosnia & Herzegovina had Lions (1) Owls (2), Giraffes (2), Bear/Giraffe (1)

These two teams charted similar in their extremes in personality. (chart showed that the lions, owls, giraffes were strong in their personality trait and not balanced between their other personalities)

Montenegro : Giraffe (1) (strong giraffe)

Serbia : Lion (1), Owl ( 1),Giraffe (1), Bear (1)

Kosovo: Lion (3),  Owl (3),Giraffe (1)

Serbia and Kosovo showed that they were very balanced with their other personalities

We then broke for the summer camp for kids. As an experiment I placed giraffes in charge of the craft room. Our giraffe lead was from Serbia . had fun to watch them embrace the style of the giraffes. Chaos reigned but it all worked out and everyone had fun.

Majority of the Owls were in the music area and they started playing the guitar and singing instead of doing the structured activity that was the usual case in the music . Montenegro is a great place to experiment.

(3) (DREW) - "Toast”: ________" (based on the Talking Point)

1:45 – 2:15 – LEADERSHIP SESSION #2

(2)DREW: discusses Topic #2 – Can We Control Success or Failure?” (Talking Point quote: Failure in business and your personal life”(use (Advice for our future quote)
